Samuel P. Wertheimer, Ph.D., Private Equity Partner. Dr. Wertheimer joined OrbiMed in 2000 in the private equity funds management group. Dr. Wertheimer's prior experience includes work in biotechnology finance, technology transfer, intellectual property and research in immunology and molecular biology. Dr. Wertheimer was a Fellow at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Wertheimer received a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from New York University, an M.P.H. from Yale University and a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University. He has served as a Director of Salmedix and Corus Pharma and currently serves on the boards of several private biotechnology companies including ChemoCentryx, InteKrin and NeurAxon and publicly traded Biodel (NASDAQ: BIOD).

Rob Adelman, M.D., Private Equity Partner. Dr. Adelman joined OrbiMed in 2002 to focus on private equity investments and structured transactions of small-capitalization public equity companies. Prior to joining OrbiMed, Dr. Adelman was Vice President of Business Development at NeoGenesis Pharmaceuticals. Prior to his tenure with NeoGenesis, he was a founder of Veritas Medicine. He was also a co-founder of Operon Technology, one of the largest commercial producers of synthetic DNA in the world. He trained as an orthopedic surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell University. As a practicing orthopedic surgeon, he was involved with major implant manufacturers on hip and knee replacement design. Dr. Adelman received his B.A. with the highest honors from the University of California, Berkeley and his M.D. from Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Adelman serves on the Boards of Volcano Corporation, CryoCor Inc, Sientra Inc., Aryx Inc, Innovative Spinal Technologies Inc, and Cerimon Pharmaceuticals.

Rishi Gupta, JD, Private Equity Principal. Mr. Gupta joined OrbiMed in 2003 to focus on private equity investments. Previously, he was a healthcare investment banker at Raymond James & Associates, served as Manager of Corporate Development at Veritas Medicine, and was a summer associate at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. Mr. Gupta has published scientific articles on the mechanisms of HIV entry into host cells and legal articles on intellectual property laws in the developing world. He received his A.B. degree magna cum laude in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard College and holds a J.D. from the Yale Law School. Mr. Gupta currently serves as a director on the boards of Sientra and Gelesis, and as an observer on the boards of Acceleron Pharma, Supernus Pharmaceuticals, Athersys and Apoptos. He is actively involved in OrbiMed's investments in Cerimon and InteKrin, and was formerly an observer on the board of CoGenesys.

David Bonita, M.D., Private Equity Principal. Dr. Bonita joined Orbimed in 2004 to focus on private equity investments and structured transactions in small capitalization public equity companies. Prior to joining Orbimed, Dr. Bonita worked as a corporate finance analyst in the healthcare investment banking groups of Morgan Stanley and UBS. He has also published scientific articles in peer reviewed journals based on signal transduction research performed at the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bonita received his A.B. degree magna cum laude in Biological Sciences from Harvard University and his joint M.D./M.B.A. from Columbia University where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society. Dr. Bonita currently serves as a director on the board of ViewRay. He has also served or currently serves as an observer on the boards of Superdimension, Innovative Spinal Technologies, Enobia Pharma, and Insulet, and is actively involved in OrbiMed's investments in Volcano Corporation and Ambit Biosciences

Chau Q. Khuong, Private Equity Principal. Mr. Khuong joined OrbiMed in 2003 to focus on biotechnology and medical device investments into both private equity and small capitalization public companies. Mr. Khuong has had experience in university technology transfer at Columbia University, start-up operations and business development at Veritas Medicine, and basic science research at Yale School of Medicine and Massachusetts General Hospital. Mr. Khuong holds a B.S. degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (Concentration in Biotechnology) and a Master's in Public Health (Concentration in Infectious Disease), both from Yale University. He was actively involved in OrbiMed investments in Peninsula Pharmaceuticals, Cerexa, Emphasys Medical, Adiana, and Biodel. Mr. Khuong currently serves as an Observer on the Board of Directors at Arius Research, CeraPedics, and Pieris AG.

David M. Darst, joined OrbiMed in 2007 to identify investments in biotechnology and medical device companies. Mr. Darst is a co-founder of two biotechnology companies with treatments in development for Age-Related Macular Degeneration and for Tuberculosis. He also co-founded an internet health company, and worked as a summer associate with McKinsey & Company, Pfizer, and Millennium Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Darst earned an A.B. degree cum laude from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Mr. Darst serves on the board of Potentia Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
